The support scheme encourages and subsidizes eight selected local picture book illustrators to participate in the following important illustration competitions in the Mainland and overseas.
The Illustrators Exhibition – Bologna Children’s Book Fair
- Deadline for submission: 29 Oct 2023
- A major highlight of BCBF, the Illustrators Exhibition is a unique international showcase for state-of-the-art trends in illustrations for children and young adults.
- Being selected will give illustrators great visibility with the publication of their works in the Illustrators Annual and the 2-year world tour of the exhibition.

Silent Book Contest
- Deadline for submission: 5 Feb 2024
- It is the first international contest for illustrated silent books. Only for unpublished work with NO text in main content.
- An International Jury will select the finalists to be announced and exhibited at BCBF and at the Salone Internazionale del Libro of Turin.
- The winning book project will be published by Carthusia Edizioni.

BIBF Ananas International Illustration Exhibition
- Deadline for submission: Apr 2024 (TBC)
- BIBF Ananas International Illustration Exhibition is the official illustration exhibition of BIBF, the world’s second-largest international book fair.
- All the finalists’ illustrations will be showcased at the BIBF Ananas Illustration Exhibition and presented in the BIBF Ananas International Illustration Exhibition Annual.

Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition
- Deadline for submission: June 2024 (TBC)
- It is an international illustration contest held annually as part of CCBF, with the support of the Shanghai Press and Publication Administration.
- The competition organising committee has entered into an “award-to-award” cooperation with the Astra International Picture Book Writing Contest, organised by Thinkingdom China, Astra Publishing House, minedition Switzerland and minedition France, in order to create the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition Astra Award. This joint award aims to promote international collaboration and publication among picture book illustrators and writers.
