Illustrators \u2013 Hong Kong Picture Book Illustrators at International Book Fairs Promotion Scheme (The Scheme) \\ aims to assist Hong Kong\u2019s emerging picture book illustrators to participate in international book fairs and related activities, and provide industry information to local picture book illustrators and students from related stream through a series of trainings. The program focuses on nurturing eight new local picture book illustrators to help them improve their creative skills, expand their markets and broaden their international horizons. Specific support includes:\n<\/p>\n\n<ul style=\"margin: 0.5em 0;\">\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400; line-height: 2;\">Provide professional creative guidance and training workshops\n<li  id=\"purpose\" style=\"font-weight: 400; line-height: 2;\">Encourage and sponsor them to participate in important picture book\/illustration competitions in the Mainland and overseas\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; line-height: 2;\">Arrange for them to attend the Bologna Children\u2019s Book Fair in Italy and the Beijing International Book Fair, and discuss cooperation with publishers and industry peers from all over the world\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed6d6f5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ed6d6f5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h6 style=\"background-color: #3b43a2; color: #fff; border-top-left-radius: 8px; border-top-right-radius: 8px; padding: 8px 16px; font-size: 1.5em; letter-spacing: 0; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; margin-top: 30px;\">Selection of Illustrators to Participate in the Program<\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f054e90 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f054e90\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div style=\"border: 1px solid #3b43a2; padding: 20px;\">\n<p style=\"font-size: 1em; font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The support program accepted applications from local picture book illustrators nominated by relevant projects under CreateSmart Initiative (CSI), supporting organizations and institutions from July to August 2023. The applicants were then being interviewed by the vetting committee members. The mentors will help the selected artists tailor-make marketing kits for and refine their portfolios to be presented at the book fairs, identify and prioritize the publishers, editors or writers to be met at the book fairs, and sharpen the selected artists\u2019 pitching skills, with a view to enhancing their chances of collaboration with the international publishers, editors and writers attending the book fairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400; line-height: 2;\"><b>Free professional training \/ masterclass:<\/b>\n<ul>\n \t<li>Local and oversea experts will be invited to deliver 6 training to improve local picture book illustrators\u2019 and comics artists\u2019 illustration and comic techniques, including but not limited to storytelling, design and printing, and to facilitate them to embrace trending or future technology such as artificial intelligence and familiarize with business aspects of the industry, such as illustration and comics licensing, and trade show marketing skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400; line-height: 2;\"><b>Attending Bologna Children\u2019s Book Fair (BCBF) &amp; Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) with the below support:<\/b>\n<ul>\n \t<li>Flight tickets and hotel accommodation will be provided.<\/li>\n \t<li>An industry professional will act as a mentor and help to arrange meetings with international publishers and editors in the book fairs.<\/li>\n \t<li>Promotion support will be provided.
